We’ve had more and more healthier recipes each week – last week there were 35 entries! Thanks so much to all who take the time to participate. It’s so exciting to see this weekly event grow.
Please invite your friends and share about it on your blog – I’d love to see 100 plus entries each week. I know, a big jump from 37 but a girl’s gotta’ dream.
I appreciated all of the supportive tweets, e-mails and comments about spending time with my family. You really touched my heart! I only go home two or three times a year, so it’s nice to unplug from the blogging world and enjoy being with them.
Last Week’s Healthier Highlights
Really, you make it harder and harder to choose every week. If you’re hungry like I am now, you might whip up Nutty Blender Waffles, Cowgirl Caviar (a must for this Texan…), or browse through this “Dips for Dummies” post.
I’ve never made tamales before – it just seems a little intimidating – but, after reading this thorough post I think I might be able to pull it off.
My Submission (a great give away…)
The Sears Chef Challenge is sponsoring a fantastic give-away on my blog this week. Enter to win an induction cooker (an easy to use kitchen toy) and learn about the home cook’s component of their contest, which would mean more exposure for your blog.
Also, if you didn’t see my Oven Roasted Okra recipe, you should swing by and check it out. I promise you’ll never feel the same about okra after trying it my way.
Linking Up Guidelines!
- When you link, please tell us who you are and what you’re cooking. For example, I might enter:
Amy @ Simply Sugar & Gluten Free – (Oven Roasted Okra) - Please link to your individual post, not your homepage and link back to this post so that your readers can find the recipes here.
I hate deleting links but some get deleted every week.
If you find that your link has been deleted it’s because it doesn’t link to your post or you haven’t linked back here. E-mail me with questions or if you need help.

Hey Amers! Hope all is well on this lovely tuesday! Thanks for sharing your space with us! My crew were in the mood for something mexican this week. I am not 100% sure corn tortillas are gluten free, but I think they are much better than wheat flour right? My recipe is for Zesty Taco Quesadillas and they were great! Keep being sweet all by yourself without that sugar!

Hi there! I adapted this sugar-free, gluten-free granola bar recipe from someone else’s. I have found that I am getting sick from refined sugars as I have been eating fewer and fewer of them. Head ache, extreme fatigue. What do you experience when you eat sugar? I am now more than ever seeking out sugar-free recipes. Thanks for being such a great test-kitchen go-to.

@abbie, I don’t eat white sugar…but when I did my biggest problem was food cravings that caused me to eat more and more. I’m thrilled to have them out of my diet.

I hesitated on providing this recipee, Amy. It’s rich and creamy and not low in calories, but yet is refined sugar free, egg free, and gluten free, and can be made dairy free/vegan using that option. It’s a wonderful recipe, that’s for sure.
Thanks for hosting as always! Must check out your giveaway!

I submitted “Substitute Teaching,” a post about gluten-free flour substitutions and making recipes work when you have to eliminate dairy, sugar, gluten, etc.

Blueberries already sound healthy, so using agave nectar instead of sugar in the filling, and using almond flour in the crust make this better for me than my old recipe.

Today I made these pancakes that I based on my macaroon recipe, so I’m calling them macaroon pancakes. I did a video, too.
As well as gluten-free and dairy-free, they’re also grain-free.
