Thanks for stopping by! Make sure to subscribe to my monthly newsletter for content not on my blog. And, don't forget to get my recipes in your inbox!
I’m so glad you stopped by Slightly Indulgent Tuesday for fabulous food made healthier! Last week was quite an event – the perfect way to start off the New Year! We had a little bit of everything…I decided to highlight one of my favorite desserts and some healthier main dishes.
My Book: An Update
My publisher sent my book to the printer on Friday afternoon! Up to that point we’d been working non-stop, even through the holidays. Clearly it’s a little behind schedule but I’ve learned that it’s pretty typical in the book biz. For those of you who have pre-ordered -thank you! I’m the last to find out about any production changes (I’m just the author…) so once I get a new release date I’ll share it with you. It’ll be here soon.
The process has left me exhausted. In fact, my husband threatened to have me kidnapped and taken away to a spa if I didn’t take a few days off and rest. I don’t know why relaxing is so hard for me, but I’m just not good at it.
But, I am taking his advice and taking an at-home-vacation. (I’d rather be at home with the dogs…) Lots of girl flicks, maybe a facial and a massage, and tons of sleep. I’ll be back on Friday with a post about exercise and living Resolution Free in 2011.
Next week I’ll share a little more about my book and some fabulous recipes I made just for you.
Last Week’s Healthier Highlights
- Tapioca Pudding (one of my guilty pleasures…) from Kaleidoscope of Days
- Mediterranean Tuna Salad from The Local Cook
- Curried Chicken Lettuce Wraps from Daily Bites
- Cranberry-Glazed Turkey Meatballs from Cara’s Cravings
NEW Linking Up Guidelines: PLEASE Read!
- Please link back to this post so that your readers can find the recipes here.
- Link to your individual post, NOT your home page.
- Recipes DO NOT have to be sugar-free or gluten-free – just healthier in some way. The idea is to share our ideas and inspire each other in the kitchen.
- Please don’t link give-aways and book reviews without recipes or contests – the intent of this event is to compile recipes that give people options.
- ONLY ONE post per blog, please!
- (Optional) When you link, please tell us who you are and what you’re cooking. For example, I might enter:

I am submitting a Winter Salad, but wanted to note that the recipe is at the bottom of the post, and at the top there is a giveaway reminder. I really do hope that is ok

Being at home with the dogs sounds just perfect to me, Amy. I’d love to be home with my new pooch today. If it starts snowing seriously, I’m vamoosing and doing that.
So exciting about the book progress … rest well!
I linked up my Top 10 (+ more) roundup that includes some wonderfully healthy recipes like pot pie (it’s delicious as vegan, or with chicken, or turkey), blackened black bean burgers, and simple roasted chick peas.
I’m very intrigued by some of the links here today … that’s for sure. Oh, that it could be similar to television shows and we all could have a sample of these recipes shared just by visiting SIT!
Hugs,
Shirley

Thanks for the mention, Amy! I’ve linked up another delicious entry; no surprise it still contains squash but this is a velvety rich (and healthy) soup. Enjoy your staycation!

Hi Ames! Hope all is well with you! I visited Miz Helen’s new Full Plate hop last thursday and it was filled with wonderful down home hospitality! Thanks for letting us all know about it! This week I am linking a recipe for pork tenderloin that my sister eavesdropped from her butcher! All the best and big hugs too! Alex

Enjoy your time off. In the time it took you to write your book, I’ve managed only a teeny tiny portion of my own book proposal. You deserve a rest!

Hi Amy, my twitter is @seasonalthings but I’m not fluent in twitter. Maybe you just can’t teach 40-something’s new things. Haha!

Amy,
I hope you’re continuing to rest from your hectic pace! Personally, I find sitting next to a furry pet or two…or four!…very relaxing, so I hope they’re helping you, too.
My entry this week is a quick and easy soup for the crockpot or the stovetop, Tomato Bean Soup.
To celebrate the new year and a little less on the schedule, I finally tried your recipe for dog biscuits, and now you should just see how much time my dog spends sitting in the kitchen in front of the treat jar
She just loves them!
Hugs,
Pat

@Pat @ Elegantly Gluten-Free, I’m back at it today, Pat. I could use a few more days but duty calls.
Thanks for always showing up to SIT with such great food.
Hugs,
Amy

Congrats on getting your book to the printer- yay!
This week I am sharing my recipe for an easy Gluten Free Pizza With Italian Sausage. It is made with Trader Joes Rice Tortillas as the base instead of an actual dough, so it speeds up the process a lot.

@Liz, Thanks for sharing that, Liz! It’s news to me.
It’s funny how the author is often the last to know. I’m hoping you’ll have it sooner. I sent an e-mail to my publisher so once I get more info I’ll share it here.
Hugs!! (And thanks so much for ordering my book!!)
