Our Big Plans…
Joe and I are spending a quiet weekend at home with the dogs. Patch Adams had his nails clipped today. He has to go under anaesthesia to have it done because he won’t let anyone touch his toe nais…typical (spoiled) alpha male. He’s a little groggy and disoriented so I’m nursing him back to normal right now.
And, this is Joe’s busiest time of year at work. He’s been putting in insanely long hours and deserves a lots of R&R this weekend with good, home cooked meals. Actually, we could both use the down time. I’m looking forward to it.
What are your big plans?

Great list, Amy! I hope everyone has a fabulous long weekend. Our plans sound much like yours (Elise is still convalescing, too–though nothing as major as anesthesia!). Looking forward to some quiet time at home and, hopefully, good weather.

Okay, Amy! You officially rock! What a great Labor Day Round-up! I am so honored that you chose one of my recipes!
I hope you and Joe have an amazingly relaxing long weekend!
We are headed to a local resort for a little “stay-cation” with the kids to end our summer with a bang. i am leaving my computer at home so that I can actually relax.
(I say that now, but we’ll see if I buckle and throw the computer in at the last minute).
Hugs

@Kim @ Cook IT Allergy Free, Every time I try to ‘unplug’ I go through some serious anxiety for a few hours and then I’m able to let go and it always feels so good. Go for it…it’s only a few days and your family will love having your undivided attention. I know Joe always appreciates it when I’m not attached to my lap top.
Maybe someday I’ll share the pic he took of me to show me what I look like most of the time. I’m sure you’d relate.

@Amy, Ooh! You will have to share that picture sometime. If it is similar to what Kurt has taken of me, I can only imagine what it looks like. Hehe.

Yummy round-up! Thanks for including my burgers. Definitely thinking I need to make a few of these recipes. Enjoy your relaxing weekend. (for me, laying low at home is a prime opportunity to play around in the kitchen…but I bet you’ve been doing way too much of that lately with your recipe testing for your book!)

@Alta, I am going to be cooking all weekend – Joe is good at resting. Me, not so much. I didn’t even make it in the kitchen today…so much computer work to do. I can’t wait to try your burgers. I saw the buns you used at Central Market yesterday. It’s amazing how many great gluten-free products are out there.

Hi Amy!
You are my hero, I’ve been sick all week and haven’t been looking forward to making a last minute menu plan!
We are going to spend time with friends and family and hopefully get some final swimming time in…(just give me a flotation device and a fruity beverage and I’ll be golden)!

Love that photo collage, Amy! It’s just gorgeous.
I’m imagining a feast of all those dishes–so delish. Thanks so much for including some of mine! I truly feel honored.
Hope you and Joe and your furbabies have a wonderful weekend! We’re headed to our mtn property tomorrow and it will get down to 49 at night–woo wee, fall is not that far away. As far as the computer discussion, I think I’ll have to leave mine at home, too, as Mr. GFE will be heading off on a trip next Friday for a week, so relaxing together should take priority.
Love and hugs,
Shirley

@gfe–gluten free easily, I can just imagine cuddling with Joe in front of a big fire in that 49 degree weather. I hope you & Mr. GFE have a great time. It’s wonderful that you’re devoting yourself to him and your relationship this weekend.

@Amy, the big fire and cozy tent later was great, but I did end up taking my computer just trying to get my adoption post up after technical difficulties at home. Every time I felt guilty, I just gave Mr. GFE a kiss and a hug and that worked for bother of us.
We still got to canoe the river for several hours and enjoy. If you and Joe are ever in Virginia, we’ll have to take you to our spot.
Hugs,
Shirley

Great list Amy! I was just in the process of putting together “Grilled Corn & Black Bean Salad w/Balsamic and Cilantro Dressing” from Shirley at Gluten-free Easily. I will take this to our family potluck today, thanks for taking the time to put us in touch with so many great GFF websites! P.S. Like you, I love Ina Garten recipes. Could you suggest a substitute for the panko bread crumbs in her “Baked Shrimp Scampi”?
Thanx!

@Posy, Panko is just a special kind of breading – it’s really about the way the bread crumbs are cut. I’ve never made her Baked Shrimp Scampi but when I bread anything, I use gluten-free breadcrumbs that I make myself from leftover bread. I toast it and then whirl it in my food processor. I’ve also made bread crumbs from leftover waffles. Hugs!!
