I’ve been holding out for almost 8 weeks just to make sure that nothing changed…but after the 3rd ultrasound we’re positive that Baby Green is all boy!
Joe and I both cried big tears of joy. Then my husband immediately started planning sports outings and scouting for season tickets. He’s watched more sports in the last two months than he has since we started dating. I, on the other hand, have hit a serious nesting phase. I even decorated the house for fall, which has never even hit my radar in the past. My primary motives are all centered around Baby.
We’ve been spending the weekends getting the house ready, moving things around, cleaning out closets, and yes, registering for baby stuff.
At first, I was so overwhelmed I told Joe I might just register at Sur la Table and cross my fingers that no one noticed. But, after some suggestions from good friends we were able to wrap our minds around what we’re going to need and what we’re not.
At least we think so.
Most of my food aversions are gone. I can eat salads again, walk through any section of the grocery store without feeling sick, and at least for today I’m not craving any red meat. There are a few foods that I still don’t care to touch, like almond butter and raw walnuts.

This is me, at about 4 1/2 months. I’m almost 5 months now. It’s great to finally look pregnant and not just like I’ve spent too much time eating dessert.
It’s hard to believe that Baby Green will be here in 130 days. Incredible.
Just in the last week, I’ve been able to feel our baby move. If you’re a mom, you know exactly how this humbled me beyond words. I could just sit with my baby while he wriggles in my belly and be in total bliss for hours. Nothing else would be necessary.
Much love,
Amy

A huge congrats to you and your hubby! I agree, there is nothing in the world to compare to carrying another life within you. That first moment you see him will be the most amazing moment of your life, even more than the first movement. The only thing that compares to the first moment I looked into my son’s beautiful eyes were the times I had the pleasure of watching my intended parents look into the eyes of the babies they had waited so long for and endured so much heartache to receive. Such a special, amazing thing to be a woman! Congratulations again.

Yay! That is so fun. I am with you on finally looking pregnant. I had those same thoughts. We are having a girl and couldn’t be more excited. I also just started feeling baby move this past week. Feeling baby move just might be the best part of being pregnant, well except for the baby you get at the end.
Congratulations on your little boy!

Congratulations! We are having a boy, too! and I think we are due somewhere near you! Eating gluten and sugar free has kept my weight gain to 6 pounds so far and I’m 24 weeks. This is pregnancy number 6 for me and I’ve gained between 35 and 50 pounds with all my past pregnancies. No gestational diabetes ever, but kids were between 8 and 10 pounds (yes 10 pounds!)
Thanks for helping me keep eating yummy gf, sf food!
It has made a huge difference in this pregnancy.

Hello Amy,
I thank to her, and happy to find your blog.
) And I tell you having a baby boy is something real great fun
(Just you gonna need more n more n more energy then you needed ever before )
(Just relax, and be peaceful that helps baby to be really healthy)
This is Banu from Istanbul, Turkey.
I found out your blog today, as Jenn (The Leftover Queen) shared your latest recipe of eclairs
I gave birth to a boy 8 1/2 months ago. We were -wrongly- waiting a baby girl after the first ultrasound, but then “it” turned to a boy
I just gained 4 kgs (I guess this makes 8 lbs) during pregnancy because of those sick feeling about foods. (I just ate green apples, fresh/unroasted almonds and hazelnuts, and toast for 4 months lol) But I understand now how it made me feel better and got ready for the baby – like a kinda detox….
I will be following this blog, and I know I need courage to get rid of my sugar&flour addiction. These two “killing beauties” just scrapping our life style. At least this is how I feel like now.
My idea turned into this after I read a book -just as you did- a Turkish cardiologist, Mrs. Karatay, who says it’s not the good fats or meat what makes us struggle with weight but just too much carbonhydrates. She also offers a life-long sugar & flour free diet with 3 meals (and in fact she says we even do not need any snack meals, but she gaves just as we are used to it)
After I read your “about me” part, I decided to go back to her advices.
Just need some more encouragement for me and my family. (I really do not wish my son to meet refined sugar which our ancistors had never faced.)
I’ll be back often
Wishing you a great “waiting” period, and you can be sure it will be amazing when “he”, your son arrives
Sincerely,
Banu

As for things you need, it’s not much. Basically, if you have a co sleeper, car seat, some receiving blankets and diapers you’ve got everything you need to get started. A swing that reclines is a plus in the first days.
