I loved this post. It made me realize that I do a lot of these things and that's why dieting for short periods of time have never worked for me. And I, too, have a huge problem with sugar and starches. I've been toying with the idea of changing my eating habits, not just for a certain diet phase, but for life, and not just for me, but for my family. My husband is struggling with his own issues with weight, and I have no intention of allowing our one year old daughter to develop the same problems we have. Your website is amazing, and I hope to utilize it a lot in the future!

@Jen, I think that the research is controversial at best. Have you read a href="http://blog.xagave.com/the-truth-about-agave-it-is-a-great-alternative-to-sugar-honey-and-other-natural-sweeteners/comment-page-1/#comment-185">this article? There are lots of different sugar alternatives that I like - stevia, palm sugar, yacon syrup, brown rice syrup, dates, prunes, and other dried fruits. :)

I notice you use agave quite often. I just read that it is highly processed and actually worse for you than HFCS. Have you researched this at all and/or what other sweeteners do you recommend?

Wow! Great post, and very insightful. This practice of journaling and going over things in my mind is one of the larger components in how I began to get free from compulsive overeating and food addiction.

Thanks for stopping by my blog, I'll add you to my links! Hope the rest of the remodel goes well!
