There&#8217;s something addictive about blueberries and chocolate. This recipe is like dessert in a glass and eats like a meal. It&#8217;s healthy, with  good-for-you stuff, too!</p>
<p>I know that the blueberry recipes have been plentiful around here but there&#8217;s a few reasons for that. First, they&#8217;re a <strong>superfood</strong>. Can&#8217;t go wrong there. And, Costco gets organic frozen blueberries in stock a couple times a year and since I have a <strong>deep freeze</strong> (and oh, how I love it!) I buy <strong>5 or 8 bags at a time</strong>. Once they&#8217;re gone, they&#8217;re gone and I have no more blueberries until next season.</p>
<p>The last piece is that since <strong>Nate</strong> has been born I have less time (and less energy) to run to the store whenever I think I need something. I used to be notorious for making a quick run to Sprouts to pick up this or that. It&#8217;s only a 5 minute drive from my home. But, now, I look around at what&#8217;s on hand and <strong>figure out how to make it work.</strong></p>

<p>Whenever I share a smoothie I’m drinking on <a href="http://www.facebook.com/simplysugarandglutenfree" target="_blank">Facebook</a>, <a href="https://twitter.com/#%21/Amys_SSGF" target="_blank">Twitter</a>, or Instagram someone asks for the recipe. When I first started drinking smoothies <strong>I used a recipe</strong>. I’ve gotten to the place where <strong>I just throw some stuff in the blender and go for it</strong>. When I hit a flavor combination I really enjoy, I take note and make it again and jot down the recipe so I can share it with you.</p>
<h2>Smoothies Are <strong>Easy<br />
</strong></h2>
<p>For those of you who are new to smoothies, there are some things you can do to make sure you don’t end up with a funky texture or less than desirable flavor.</p>
<ol>
<li><strong>Think Simply. </strong>Instead of combining a bunch of different foods you’ve never tried together, start with flavor combinations you know and love. I think about my favorite dessert flavors – cherry and chocolate, berry cobbler, apple pie – and then use those fruits in my smoothies.</li>
